How it works
Afterpay shows up as a payment option at checkout, right alongside card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Choose it, follow the short eligibility check, and your order splits into four equal fortnightly payments.
The payment schedule on a $100 order looks like this:
- Today — $25 at checkout
- In 2 weeks — $25 auto-charged to your card
- In 4 weeks — $25 auto-charged to your card
- In 6 weeks — $25 auto-charged to your card
No interest, ever. You pay exactly the order value, spread over six weeks.
We ship your order as soon as we would for any other payment method — we don't hold it back waiting for instalments to clear. Your candles arrive within our usual 2–6 business day window.
Who can use Afterpay
Afterpay is available at our checkout for customers who meet Afterpay's own eligibility criteria:
- You're an Australian resident with an Australian billing address;
- You're 18 years or older;
- You have a valid Australian debit or credit card;
- You pass Afterpay's automated eligibility check at the moment of purchase.
Afterpay runs its own check when you choose it at checkout — we don't see the criteria and we don't influence the decision. If Afterpay declines, you can still complete your order with any of the other payment methods.
Purchase limits
Afterpay sets its own purchase limits based on your account standing with them. For most first-time Afterpay users, limits sit between $500 and $2,000 per order. Established Afterpay customers with a clean history may see higher limits.
Our own orders rarely exceed these limits — the largest gift box in the range sits around $149 — so Afterpay works for effectively every cart size on this site.
If you miss a payment
Afterpay will attempt to charge your card on each scheduled date. If the payment fails, Afterpay will:
- Email and SMS you that day;
- Pause further purchases through Afterpay until you're caught up;
- Apply a late fee — capped at $10 per missed payment, and a maximum of $68 total per order, per Afterpay's published policy.
Late fees are charged by Afterpay, not by us. We don't see them and we don't receive any part of them.
Honest note: if you're unsure whether you can cover four fortnightly payments, please use a debit card or bank transfer instead. The candles will still be here next payday, and we'd rather that than a $68 fee on a $100 order.
Returns & Afterpay
If you return a candle bought with Afterpay — either under the 30-day burn guarantee or the standard change-of-mind policy — the refund flows through the same way the payment did:
- We refund the full amount to Afterpay;
- Afterpay cancels any remaining scheduled payments on that order;
- Any payments you've already made are refunded to your card within 3–5 business days.
You don't need to contact Afterpay — just email us as you would for any other return, and the rest happens automatically on their side.
Your information & Afterpay
When you choose Afterpay at checkout, your payment and eligibility check runs entirely inside Afterpay's environment. We pass them your name, email, billing address, and the order total so the right instalment plan can be set up — nothing more.
Afterpay's handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policy at afterpay.com/en-AU/privacy-policy. We recommend giving it a skim if you haven't already.
Our own handling of your information is covered on our Privacy Policy page.
Quick questions we get often
Is there any interest or hidden fee?
None. You pay the order total, divided by four, over six weeks.
Does Afterpay affect my credit rating?
Afterpay does not perform a hard credit check. They do have their own internal credit assessment, and missed payments may affect your ability to use Afterpay in future.
Can I use Afterpay on a wholesale order?
No — Afterpay is available only on retail orders through the public checkout. Wholesale orders are invoiced with the terms outlined on the Wholesale page.
Can I combine Afterpay with a discount code?
Yes. The discount applies first, then Afterpay splits the discounted total into four.
Something went wrong with Afterpay — who do I contact?
For payment issues (scheduling, card updates, late fees) — contact Afterpay directly at help.afterpay.com. For anything about the candles themselves — email us at infosusaaustralia@gmail.com.
